The biggest event in the history of the Shri Shivaji
Education Society, Amravati was the inauguration of SHRI SHIVAJI LOKA
VIDYAPITH (Shri Shivaji People’s University) by Dr. Rajendra
Prasad, President of the Republic of Inda on 30th December, 1950.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad, blessed the Vidyapitha on the occasion of its
inauguration and his blessing are really bearing fruit. The first
institution of the Vidyapitha is the Janta College established on
1st September, 1951. |
| It has done considerable pioneer
work in the field of Rural Studies which provided an excellent basis
for the establishment of the Rural Institute, Amravati. The Janata
College, however, still continues to function. At present it has (i)
Two-year Diploma Course in Agriculture (ii) Short term courses of
Social and Agricultural Education for Six months and (iii) A Refreshers
courses for Young Farmers. |
| GANDHI GRAMODYOG MANDIR,
AMRAVATI |
| Gandhi Gramodyog Mander, Amravati was started by the Shri Shivaji
Education Society, Amravati in 1851 under the auspices of Shri Shivaji
Loka Vidyapitha, Amravati which was inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad,
President, Indian Republic in December 1950 of Which Dr. P.S.Deshmukh,
Union Minister for Cooperation is the President from the date of its
inception. |
| Palm-Gur Training and NE Oils & Soap Industry these Training
Centres are sponsored by the All India Khadi and Village Industries
Board, Bombay and the third is directly under the Commerce and Industries
Department, Government of India, Gandhi Gramodyog Mandir, Amravati
had the privilege of acting as a host for the First All India Conference
of the representative of the N.E. Oils and Soap Industry. The conference
was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh, Union Minister
for Agriculture on 28th February, 1956. |
| The Director, Small Industries Technical Service Institute, Bombay
(Government of India), the following four Scheme are to be implemented
through the Gandhi Gramodyog Mandir, Amravati i.e. (i) Training Cum
Production Model Work Shop, (ii) Training Cum Prouduction Centre in
Carpenty (iii) Training Cum –Production Centre for the Manufacture
of Stationary Articles and (iv) Manufacture of Paper Pins and Clips.

| SHRI SHIVAJI VYAYAM PRASARAK MANDAL, AMRAVATI |
| This is a registered Society established by Dr. P.S.Deshmukh as
early as 1926 for the spread of Physical Culture Activities. The Society
has been given a plot of Land by Government for Gymnasium and it has
constructed a building. It has bio programme of expansion of Gymanisa,
drill as well as sports and games. |
| A grant of Rs. 5,000/- was received by the Society from Maulana
Abul Kalam Azad, Minister for Education out of his discretionary Grant.
The Government Body has been recently re-constituted. |
